The U16 team once again took advantage of Pentecost to participate in a Pentecost tournament—the STK was a guest of HC Tilburg in the Netherlands, where 32 teams from 6 countries had gathered. With 7 (!) fields at the complex, there was plenty of space for many games.
After a long drive on Friday and a restless night in a team tent provided for us, our team faced its first opponents the next day. Against a select team from the Utrecht region of the Netherlands, the STK created only a few scoring opportunities, as the Dutch played at a very high level. Unfortunately, we suffered very close losses against Düsseldorfer HC and Blau-Weiss Köln.

After a long padel lesson with Brandon, we headed out for a wild night of partying, before the placement matches took place on Sunday in gorgeous weather—all of which we can count as “valuable experience.” The draw wasn’t in our favor, because the “Swiss system” somehow didn’t give us a chance to play against opponents of similar skill levels.
Still, the trip was a great start to the season, and we had a lot of fun and enjoyed some great sports. 💚❤️
